Questions from school leaders
Frequently asked questions
Who is the programme for?
Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, delivered as group sessions that include all abilities.
How long does it take?
Six weeks, one session per week. Each session is 1.5 hours.
What do teachers do during sessions?
There needs to be at least one member of staff in the classroom whilst I deliver the sessions, but that doesn't have to be the class teacher. However, it is more beneficial to have the teacher present so that they are part of the journey.
Can we merge pupils from different classes?
Absolutely. The sessions are highly adaptable. Recommended group size 15-35.
Does it fit alongside the English curriculum?
Yes. Reading engagement is the focus, but activities have pupils practising comprehension and inference skills throughout.
What does it cost?
An introductory rate of £600 for the six-week programme is available for early-adopter schools. Get in touch for full pricing.
What happens after the six weeks?
As Reading Remedy develops I'm looking to offer optional follow-on support: check-in sessions, top-up workshops and one-to-ones for pupils who would benefit from more time.
What evidence is there that it works?
A recent Year 5 pilot produced measurable shifts in reading attitudes and behaviour within six weeks. Full results are on the Pilot Results page.
